Every year Finnish Hunters’ Association and its district organisations arrange a variety of youth activities.
Metso Youth Camps
The Metso Camps are hunting and game orientated youth camps that are organised by the different district organisations all around Finland. On these camps young people get the opportunity to acquaint themselves with activities in connection to the outdoors, game management and hunting; surrounded by similar minded people. Additionally, there is a tradition of offering the participants of the camps an opportunity to pass the hunting examination and require a hunting licence.
The district organisations of Finnish Hunters’ Association have organised Metso Camps since 1997. In recent years the annual number of Metso Camps has been around ten and the combined number of participating children and young is about 500.
The majority of Metso Camps are aimed at children and young between the ages of 10 and 16, and everyone interested in hunting and game management is welcome to participate, regardless of whether or not they have a hunting licence. The so-called hunting-Metso Camps are meant for young of ages 15-18, who already have acquired a hunting licence.

The district organisations also organise different educational events and theme days. The educational topics range from guns and shooting to the trapping of small predators and the preparation and dressing of skins and other game. Some districts also arrange season long small predator trapping competitions. In many districts the representatives of hunting societies also visit schools and provide hunting related information.
